• 5.0 out of 5 stars from DJ Johnson -- A new dark litrpg for everyone! : So the book is pretty well written the prologue would suck you in very fast, it is a dark litrpg so you should expect quite a bit of gore among other things, but this book is way more biggest then amazon says as well as very interesting start to the litrpg elements i can't recommend this enough. A new author with a amazing story to tell just know the MC is not perfect sometimes i'd call him downright stupid but you know he's human! He makes mistakes has dumb thoughts and learn from them. He's decent for the most part even with his flaws 5/5 for making realistic characters instead of them following a archetype or something! ( Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2020 )
• 5.0 out of 5 stars from Joe Thibodeau -- Super duper crazy good! : While I can't agree with the direction the author takes the MC all of the time, I cannot help but acknowledge that even when I'm half tempted to throw my kindle I still can't put this book down. The world is well thought out and has plenty of room to expand, and there is definite character growth. The biggest selling point for me was that the author did not just call the novel quits after the first moderate hurdle that the MC overcomes, he kept the story flowing. Though the setup for the story was a little cliche (the setup is overused in the genre), it was treated in an interesting manner and was more than just a mechanism to get the main character into the meat of the story. I enjoyed watching the main character NOT have everything fall into his lap and have to struggle quite a bit. The story is well told with many characters you love to hate, the hero Jack is a tough diamond with a soft heart and a barely concealed anger bubbling below the surface. But for all that he is given the chance to participate in opening a portal for his mentor, not that he is given much of a choice in the matter. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Mr Luke Golding -- Very engrossing : I’m not ordinarily a big reader of LitRPG but I gave this book a go and I am very glad I did. The first couple of chapters are slower paced as they set the scene but by the time Jax is broken out of hospital the book is utterly engrossing and a real page turner. The main character is complex and engaging and the overall premise of the tournaments between the noble houses in the under verse feels fresh and exciting. Would thoroughly recommend!!
